Asseer
On an area of 400,000km2, Asseer occupies a distinguished and rich location in the south western part of the Kingdom which is equal to the area of three Arabian countries combined together. It gained its strategic importance from forming an important civilized centers and a huge population. It was known since old days by its nature beauty, rain water abundance, and its cool weather, in addition to embracing the warm winter resorts, as it is really a beautiful summer resort and its touristic location has its privacy. Historians disagreed on the reasons of obtaining its name, even if Fouad Hamza considers that it is wronged by given this name. Its people were known for their generosity, courage, calm nature, and the bright history in the Islamic conquests since the eighth year of El HIJRA. And its capital Abha that the poets flirted for its beauty but it rebelled on them till someone draw a tableau for it and rendered it in words, so it bowed for him, and a poem was made for Asseer related to its strategic inventory - the Tourism Industry - which Asseer depends on after three decades of developmental construction in this area which had reached for the man, the mountain, the forest, the bird, the air, the lowland, and the coast, till tourism here dreamt to take you one day to the seaside shore of Asseer and another day to the tops of the mountains and a third to its eastern lowlands where you can find the camp, the camel, and the fire Why was it named Asseer?Some historians say that it was named in regard to a Adnany man from its old residents named (Asseer); and some say this region may had been called Jarash in regard to the known antique place located to the south east of Khamees Mshait City, and later it has been called Asseer due to its complicated roads which is full of rocks, deep valleys, and high hills LocationAsseer is located in the middle of the south western part of the Kingdom between latitude 17.25 and 19.50 to the north and longitude 50.00 to 41.50 to the East. The region’s area is about 80.000 km2. Asseer stretches from the boundaries of El Darb, El Shakeek, Beesh, and Jazan in the south west to the boundaries of Yamen in the south east. And from the boundaries of El Dawaser Valley and El Riyadh in the north to Raneya, Mecca, Ghamed, and Dahran and El Baha in the coast lowland. And it is bounded from the east by Najran Emirate, and from the west El Konfoza and part of the Red Sea Shore The Region GeographyAsseer can be divided geographically to three main parts, each has its distinguished features: El Sarwat mountains chain, the Eastern Hill, and Tahamat Asseer
